Putting conservation in the hands of the community

Backyard Biobanking is the first public facing initiative of The Gondwana Project Inc. We want to give our alpine and rainforest plants, free of charge, to the community. Our goal is to create a sprawling urban climate refugia for these plants that is safe from the dangers posed by a changing climate. Ideally, these plants are then safe from drought, heat, and most importantly, fire. We also believe that letting people become custodians of these plants can help develop empathy towards their plight within the community. This project supports two of our key goals: education, and conservation.
We will regularly announce plant giveaway events, where you can rock up and take home one of Tasmania's floral gems! All we ask is that you let us tell you a bit about them first, and stay open to donating cuttings or seed from them in the future!
Stay posted on our social media channels for details of when we announce events! To get your plant and participate in our project, we'll ask for your email, phone number, and postcode. We promise we won't bombard you with unnecessary emails. The only things we'll get in touch with you about is future plant giveaways and calls for seeds and cuttings, if they're needed.
